  3. Not Eating Nutritious Meals

It’s been a few months since you started your keto diet but you don’t seem to be losing any weight. You then start to question the validity of ketosis and also question yourself if you are doing the correct diet regimen. Are you not disciplined enough? Did you miss something? Not getting any answers can be infuriating. This experience can also sap your confidence. You put in the time and effort but are not getting the positive results you were hoping for. What went wrong?

You are not alone. Many people who go on a diet do not get the results that they were hoping for. It can be any diet regimen and is not exclusive to the keto diet. There are many factors involved. Let’s educate ourselves and become better informed in order to get the results we want. Let’s find out what can cause you to not lose weight even when going on a keto diet.

Too Many Carbs

A keto diet is a low carb and high fat intake diet. It means that you need to consume fewer carbs to allow your body to adjust and burn fat for energy instead of glucose. This is probably the hardest part of this diet. We are so used to taking in carbohydrate-rich foods that when we go on a keto diet, we still consume the same amount of carbs with the additional intake of fat. Those delicious carbs are indeed hard to give up. Reduce your carb intake. Be disciplined and you will reap the rewards.

Not Actually In Ketosis

Ketosis is a metabolic state where your body burns fat for energy instead of glucose. It can be a bit tricky when first starting out. It is actually common for some to think that their body is in this state but is actually not. That is why they are not losing weight. They were not even in a keto diet in the first place. The key to getting your body in the ketosis state is to properly calculate your intake. This is a meticulous process and will vary depending on your health and body weight. Consult with experts and nutritionists so you can calculate your proper intake.

Not Eating Nutritious Meals

Probably the easiest thing to do but is the most commonly overlooked. It does not matter which weight loss plan you are following, if you are not eating healthy and nutritious meals, you will not shed those extra pounds. In fact, you might even gain some. Do not rely on processed and packaged foods. If you can, go for meals made from fresh ingredients. Poultry, eggs, fish, pastured meats and avocados are great choices if you are on a keto diet.
